Red Wolf Brass Band
What started as a high school lesson in the New Orleans Brass Culture and a general lecture in harmony back in 2012 have turned into a nine song debut album entitled “7th Period"  The Red Wolf Brass Band carves out their own style. When Desmond Venable, leader and teacher of the Red Wolf Brass Band, started this project, he wanted to highlight his students’ culture and diversity.

After two years of hard work starting with beginner band students the Red Wolf Brass
Band was born. The album, which was intended to be a final class project, pays homage to many New Orleans greats such as Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Rebirth Brass Band, Soul Rebels Brass Band, Hot 8 Brass Band and Olympia Brass Band to name a few.  Venable’s knowledge of New Orleans culture is apparent throughout the album, but the Wolves also branch out and put unique spins on a couple of timeless New Orleans classics.

The Red Wolf Brass Band has played at numerous events such as the French Quarter Fest,
Satchmo Fest, Leaf Festival in North Carolina, Creole Gumbo Festival, weddings and other events just to name a few.  Most people’s initial reaction when first seeing the Red Wolf Brass Band is true surprise, but when the youngsters play, they turn that astonishment into new fans just like you.
