Best Booking Agency of the Year
2008 started off right in January when White Oak Productions, Inc. was awarded "Best Booking Agency" at OffBeat Magazine's Best of the Beat Awards. We were proud to accept this award from The New Orleans Music Community for the ninth consecutive year! We would like to thank all of the clients who have supported us over the years, and we would like to thank all of our talented musician friends.

The Sugar Bowl rang in the New Year as White Oak Productions produced two pep pep rallies for the University of Hawaii Warriors on New Years Eve. White Oak booked Coolbone Brass Band and Dwayne Dopsie, plus provided audio production at Generations Hall for the official University of Hawaii pep rally!

White Oak was also on site assisting with production for the sold out party and rally at the Sugar Mill featuring the always exciting University of Hawaii mascot Villi The Warrior as well as popular entertainer Willie K. White Oak furnished production and consulting services.
Mardi Gras 2008 was the earliest in years, but that did not stop us from participating in many of the carnival festivities. The production of Mardi Gras Balls, parties and outdoor events kept our team busy! White Oak Productions was on hand to provide high-energy entertainment throughout the carnival season.

Weather postponed the Muses Parade but White Oak was on hand to continue the party despite the rain. White Oak booked popular New York DJ, DJ Scratch and the Village People for the Muses Ball at the Contemporary Arts Center.

What do you get when you mix New Orleans style music with funk of the 70's and classic hits? The 2008 Bacchus Rendezvous Bash! Chris Burke and His New Orleans Music and the Pinstripe Brass Band were on hand during the day to warm up the Bacchus Krewe as they had lunch and prepared for the parade. The Boogie Men, Three Dog Night, KC and the Sunshine Band and the Wise Guys continued the party 'till the wee hours of the morning.
Lundi Gras in Spanish Plaza

After a bangin' good time at the Bacchus Bash, the White Oak Team returned to the Riverwalk in Spanish Plaza to produce the annual Lundi Gras event. Thousands of people came out to see The Soul Rebels, Rockin' Dopsie Jr. & The Zydeco Twisters and The Topcats. Everyone danced the day away and experienced the king of Zulu and Rex meet on stage. Mayor C. Ray Nagin even stopped by to catch a few minutes of fun! Thanks to Lauren Greenberg!
AUDUBON NATURE INSTITUTE

Soul Fest at the Audubon Zoo celebrated the African American culture and its influence on the New Orleans Community. White Oak participated in the celebration by stage managing the two day event and booked the Soul Rebels Brass Band, the Rebirth Brass Band, the Algiers Brass Band and the Wild Mohicans Mardi Gras Indians.

After a bangin' good time at the Bacchus Bash, the White Oak Team returned to the Riverwalk Audubon Aquarium patrons were given a rare opportunity to get behind the scenes of the Aquarium. White Oak booked Vivaz and August Heat to provide entertainment for the event. Many thanks to Lani McWilliams!

White Oak Productions produced, booked and stage-managed this two-day event over St. Patrick's Day weekend. Charmine Neville, the Zydepunks, the Boogiemen and After 8 performed to an audience decked out in green.

Irma Thomas performed her annual Mother's Day concert for thousands of happy moms and their families. White Oak Productions was on site to stage-manage the event; and booked Ingrid Lucia and the Flying Neutrinos as well as Irma Thomas and the Professionals.

The Audubon Insectarium's opening marked the first large scaled tourist attraction to open since Hurricane Katrina. The White Oak team was on site and booked face painters, balloon artists, caricature artists, Rudy and the Caribbean Funk Band and the Red Hot Brass Band for the opening day. White Oak also participated in the cross-marketing events for the Insectarium Opening at the Aquarium of the Americas. White Oak was on site and booked caricature artists, balloon artists, magicians, calliope puppet shows, the Baby Boyz Brass Band, Johnette Downing and the Palmetto Bug Stompers. French Quarter Festival

Ed White returned as Entertainment Director for the 2008 French Quarter Festival. The three-day festival featured over 150 musical performances in the French Quarter. Beautiful weather was a nice touch for festival-goers who enjoyed a weekend filled with over 250 hours of free music. White Oak booked notable acts such as Ellis Marsalis, The Radiators, Kermit Ruffins & the BBQ Swingers, Charmaine Neville and Irvin Mayfield to commemorate the 25th year of the festival.

White Oak Productions was involved in the first ever Louisiana Children's Museum music festival! White Oak stage managed, booked Amanda Shaw & the Cute Guys and Dr. Michael White & the Liberty Jazz Band and provided production for the event. Beautiful weather and a stellar line up that also included Jonette Downing, the Wild Mohicans Mardi Gras Indians and the Imagination Movers made this the first of many music festivals for the museum. WXBM's Country Fest

Seaside Jazz Festival

Two fabulous weekends in Seaside, Florida featuring The Neville Brothers, Marva Wright, Little Freddie King, Rebirth Brass Band and more. White Oak handled all musical production. Thanks to Gail Morgan and Kristin Banker.
Back to the Beach/Save Our Lake Festival

Eve Ensler, performer, activist and author of The Vagina Monologues, was inspired to create V-Day, a powerful movement of creative events aimed at ending violence against women and girls. V to the Tenth, the ten-year anniversary, was held in downtown New Orleans. Eve Ensler served as writer and executive producer for the event that transformed the Superdome into the SuperLove and held a moving performance of The Vagina Monologues in the New Orleans Arena featuring Jane Fonda, Jennifer Beal, Didi Conn, Rosario Dawson and musical guests Faith Hill and Jennifer Hudson. White Oak served as the local production liason, coordinated runners and hired assistant stage managers and production assistants. In the midst of Mardi Gras parades, we collaborated with On-Site Management and Event Technology Services at the Convention Center on January 30th. The theme was "Casino Night" which included costumed models, tarot and palm readers, and human statues. Troi Bechet had a beautiful performance setting the scene for the series of gaming tables which included Blackjack, Dice, and Roulette! Legacy Donor/Soul Revival

Soul Revival is an annual fundraiser that supports the Legacy Donor Foundation. The foundation is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to educate and inform the public about the importance of organ donation. White Oak produced the musical portion of the event held on Fulton Street, and patrons were able to come and dance the night away to E.L.S. Special thanks to Jeanette Slakey.

White Oak booked the talent and coordinated musical production for this great corporate event held in Orlando, Florida. Attendees got to party to the sounds of Kool and the Gang, Dwight Yoakam and the Doobie Brothers! Many Thanks to Dale, GJ and Kent.
BIG EASY ENTERTAINMENT AWARDS
Now in its 20th year, Gambit Weekly celebrates the eclectic New Orleans' theater and music scenes by hosting the Big Easy Awards. The two awards ceremonies were held on separate dates but for the first time were both held in Harrah's Casino Theater. The flamboyant performer Bianca Del Rio emceed the theater awards on March 24th, and Harry Shearer emceed the music awards on April 21st. The White Oak Team was on hand to produce both events. Allen Toussaint at Loyola's Alum Weekend

White Oak Productions booked and stage managed Allen Toussaint's concert for Loyola's Alumni Weekend. The highlight event of the weekend was held in Loyola's Roussell Hall, and alums were able to enjoy an intimate performance with one of New Orleans musical legends.
Tulane University Wave Goodbye
